Robert Shapiro Biography
Attorney Robert Shapiro is recognized for representing many high-profile clients, most notably O.J. Simpson.
Who Is Robert Shapiro?
Robert Shapiro finished at Loyola Law School in 1968. Once he opened his firm in 1972, Shapiro started on a firm path, often representing famous patients with minor difficulties with the law. In 1994, he was selected as part of the defense team for O.J. Simpson and shifted part of what would become known as the “trial of the century.” While Shapiro has ever had a stellar legal reputation, the O.J. Simpson trial would become his ultimate career test.
Robert Shapiro was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, on September 2, 1942. He measured from the Anderson School of Business at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1965 with a diploma in finance and from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1968. At Loyola, he set himself aside from his classmates by acquiring two American Juris Prudence scholarships and the school’s moot court controversy. This earned him the spot as the court’s chief justice. His experience as justice presented him with future relationships and showed him that his profession was the courtroom.
In 1969, a year after promotion, Shapiro was admitted to the State Bar of California. In 1970, he joined Linell Thomas, with whom he had boys, Brent (1980-2005) and Grant (b. 1984). Shapiro had clerked for the L.A. County District clerk’s Office during his current year of law school. He took his first job there as a public prosecutor and stayed for nearly 3 years.
Upon leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Shapiro hit the earth running by starting his practice in 1972. It wasn’t long ere he was representing his first important client: Linda Lovelace, the 1970s porn actress who became famous for the movie Deep Throat. In early 1974, Shapiro defended Lovelace when she was charged with cocaine possession and amphetamines in Las Vegas. As cocaine use became widespread in the 1970s, Shapiro gained a name for defending famous or rising artists who had been arrested for doing or controlling illicit drugs.
Other early customers of note included individual future O.J. Simpson lawyer F. Lee Bailey and anchorperson Johnny Carson, who was captured for alcoholic driving around the same time. The superstar customer pattern proceeded into the 1990s, when Shapiro safeguarded Christian Brando, child of acclaimed entertainer Marlon Brando, against murder accusations, and arranged a money related repayment for baseball star Darryl Strawberry, who consented to clear his agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the wake of admitting to a medication propensity. Be that as it may, an amazing instance was standing by practically around the bend.
O.J. Simpson Trial and Beyond
On June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson, the ex of O.J. Simpson, and her companion Ron Goldman were found cut to death outside Brown’s Los Angeles townhouse. Simpson was an individual of enthusiasm for their homicides, and after five days the police connected with him in a strange low-speed pursue that was communicated live broadly for its span.
Shapiro was recruited as a piece of Simpson’s safeguard group and in October 1995, the jury saw Simpson not as liable of the homicides, fixing Shapiro’s as of now heavenly lawful notoriety. After the Simpson preliminary, Shapiro moved the focal point of his training to the less-ignoble clerical criminal resistance field.

Outside of the court, Shapiro has propelled two organizations, LegalZoom and Shoedazzle, and has composed two top of the line books, The Search for Justice (true to life) and Misconception (fiction). Following the 2005 medication-related demise of his child Brent, he established a cause, the Brent Shapiro Foundation, which brings issues to light about medication and liquor enslavement.
